On Friday, November 10, the seniors and freshmen, who wore black jerseys, faced off against the juniors and sophomores, who wore gray jerseys. Before competing, the senior class was undefeated in powderpuff games.
The highlight play of the game was during the last play of the first half. The senior and freshman team wanted one last scoring opportunity before the half. They threw a long pass down the left side to a receiver, but junior Samantha Deutschmann tapped the ball and intercepted it! If that wasn’t enough, she ran the interception for a 40-yard touchdown!
Both teams played hard, but the sophomores and junior team put an end to the seniors’ undefeated title when they defeated the freshman and seniors 50-8 with several pick-6 plays!
We want to thank all those on the student council who planned this event for the student body and the community. In addition, we want to thank our referees, Dr. Pederson and Mr. Henry Hoekstra. It is a loved tradition at Zion Christian School, and they hope to see many more powderpuff games.
